When in 2014 the sale of the VAIO division by Sony was confirmed , many of us thought that perhaps we would not see laptops with that brand again, but later its return and international expansion were announced . It is not that we have seen an extensive range in this rebirth of the brand, but some notable launch such as the new VAIO Z , in turn being a rebirth of this series (apparently extinct in 2017).

This new laptop claims to be the first three-dimensionally molded entirely with carbon fiber , which promises high strength and lightness. Of course, although it does not stay in the Japanese market at the moment, it does not come out globally either.

4K between sheets of carbon fiber

They emphasize in VAIO that the 3D carbon fiber used in their new laptop is resistant due to the material itself and the arrangement of the fibers in each sheet. They also boast of lightness, leaving a weight of 1.05 kilograms which is not bad at all, although light does not win proportionally to the LG Gram , which weighs 1.35 with a larger screen.

Vaio Z Weight

In that chassis fits a 14-inch 4K LCD screen in all four available models. The webcam is fitted into the upper frame, which also has a slider to physically cover it if we prefer to do this by not using it for security reasons.

The keyoard is backlit and they claim that it is also silent, with a distance between the centers of each key of 1.5 millimeters (compared to the previous 1.2 millimeters), which in theory would be more comfortable than before. The keys protrude through windows due to said carbon fiber structure and have a concave surface.

Up to 32 GB of RAM and 10 hours of autonomy

For the brain of this computer we see that the 11th generation of Intel is used , specifically the Intel Core i7-11375H , which is the processor for the four available models. You can vary the RAM, with options of 16 and 32 GB LPDDR4 and storage, in any case PCIe SSD but from 512 GB to 1 TB.

It does not leave much room for ports, integrating a single HDMI, USB type C Thunderbolt 4 and the audio minijack, without an SD card reader. The battery gives an approximate autonomy of ** 10 hours and has support for Wi-Fi 6 , in addition to Bluetooth 5.1.
