A few days ago the iPad Pro (2021) was filtered in renders, showing an identical design with respect to the current model. A few days later, at the hands of the same source, the iPad Mini 6 is filtered , with a relevant change in design, due to the integration of two features never before implemented in Apple.
This iPad Mini 6, according to the leaked renders, will come with a small hole in the screen, to make room for the front camera . The renders come to the hands of David Kowalski, who previously leaked (and got it right) with the designs of devices like the Google Pixel 5 .
The first hole in the screen by Apple
The mini iPad Apple had spent years betting on the classic design, with large frames and button for the Touch ID . Kowalski aims high, ensuring that the iPad mini 6 will have Touch ID under the screen . The use of the bezels would be quite spectacular, at the level of an iPad Pro, with a small hole in the screen for the front camera.
According to the leaker , the renders only show the area where the fingerprint reader will be located, for illustrative purposes. This area will not be visible, as we have seen for years on Android phones. According to Kowalski, the screen will be 9.1 inches , and the processor used will be the A14 Bionic, the SoC used by the iPhone 12 family of 2020.
The device is expected to launch in March , along with the iPad Pro 2021 and the iPhone SE 2021. If this information is confirmed, the iPad mini would anticipate the possible arrival of Touch ID under the screen to the next iPhone, something that takes time rumored and that could be accelerated given the problems that Face ID can cause in times of pandemic and masks.
