Six Ways To Find The IMEI Of Your iPhone

The IMEI of your iPhone is a number that identifies your phone against any other, similar to the serial number. We may need the IMEI in some circumstances, the most common being that we have contacted Apple support and we have to give an identifier of your iPhone . Fortunately it is a number that we can find easily, let's look at six ways to do it.

There are several ways to find the IMEI of  your iPhone that can be more or less convenient depending on whether we have it at hand or not, they are the following.

In the Settings app

The first and easiest way to find the IMEI number of your iPhone is to check it in the Settings app , we will do it like this:

  • We open the Settings app on our iPhone.
  • We enter General .
  • We tap on Information .
  • We consult the IMEI section .

Through Finder or iTunes

We can also find the IMEI number by consulting the Finder or, if we use a system prior to Catalina or a Windows computer, in iTunes.

  • We plug the iPhone into our Mac or PC.
  • Once we are in iTunes or Finder we select our iPhone from the sidebar.
  • We enter the General tab in Finder or Summary in iTunes .
  • We will find the IMEI number under the device name.

Physically on the device

As of iPhone 6, the IMEI number of the device is printed on the SIM card tray . For older phones the IMEI is written on the back and for even older phones like 3G, 3GS, 4 and 4S it is, again, on the SIM card tray.

On our other devices

If we have an iPad or another iPhone we can check the IMEI number as long as we have the session started with the same Apple ID on both devices . The steps are the following:

  • We open the Settings app on our other iPhone or our iPad.
  • We touch our name at the top.
  • At the bottom we choose the device from which we want to consult the data.
  • We will find the number in the IMEI section .

In the web

Through the Apple ID options page we can also access to check the IMEI number. We do so:

  • We enter appleid.apple.com
  • We introduce our username and password.
  • At the bottom, in the Devices section , we touch the one that interests us to consult.
  • We will find the IMEI number in the small pop-up that will appear.

In original box

Finally, if we keep the original box, in its lower part, together with a barcode, we will find the serial number as well as the IMEI .

It is true that currently the use of the IMEI number to identify your iPhone is much less common, but if we need to consult it, for whatever reason, we have six ways to do it. A resource that is always useful to keep in mind.
