The Huawei P Smart is a surprise every year and lately they always arrive without making much noise and when we do not expect it. The Huawei P Smart 2020 and Huawei P Smart S arrived in the second quarter of this year, but the Huawei P Smart 2021 has not waited for this crazy 2020 to end and it is official.

A much larger update than the one we have mentioned with the S and 2020, especially in camera and battery . We will see that the design also maintains certain lines and colors, but there is also an evolution in the use of the front by the screen. And above all: the price is maintained.

The goodbye to the notch in the P Smart

At the aesthetic level, we see that the new P Smart still inherits some features of the P Smart 2021, such as the glossy rear and its curved edges (and some of the colors). Of course, the fingerprint reader is no longer in this part, but is inserted precisely on this side edge .

The rear camera module widens because it integrates from two to four lenses (which we will detail later), although one of the main changes is right at the front: goodbye to the notch in the P Smart. A hole for the front camera that appears through a 6.67-inch IPS-type screen with FullHD + resolution , maintaining this with respect to its predecessor.

More cameras, more battery, faster charging speed

More conservative has been Huawei at the processor level, seeing again the Kirin 710A of the house with a single option of 4 GB of RAM . The internal memory is 128 GB of storage, which can be expanded with a common microSD card like its predecessor (no NM card).

It should be remembered that being a Huawei terminal it has Android 10 as its operating system, but without Google services. In return, it includes those of Huawei, with Huawei App Gallery or Petal Search among others, available in EMUI 10.1.

Evolution also in the battery, which in this new mobile is 5,000 mAh with support for fast charging of up to 22.5 W, also higher than the previous ones. To power it, it has a USB-C connector and the 3.5 mm jack remains.

We said talking about the design that the rear module grew in size because it grew in cameras. The now four rear cameras present the usual combination in more modest mobiles, this being the following:

• 48 megapixel main sensor with f / 1.8 aperture lens.
• Wide angle with 8 megapixel sensor with f / 2.4 aperture lens.
• 2 megapixel macro photography sensor with f / 2.4 aperture lens.
• 2 megapixel sensor for portrait mode with f / 2.4 aperture lens.

The front camera stays with an 8-megapixel sensor like the P Smart, without inheriting the 16-megapixel sensor that we already saw in the P Smart S.

Cost and availability of the Huawei P Smart 2021

As has happened on previous occasions, this year's P Smart from Huawei has so far been announced in some European markets, among which Spain is not. The starting price that currently shows is 229 euros , which is between what we saw in the two P Smart of the 2020 shipment.

The colors of the P Smart 2021 are teal, pink and black and there is only a 4GB + 128GB configuration. We will be waiting to update this information if it becomes available in more markets.
