A mobile that changes color at the push of a button: Vivo shows its latest and amazing video technology
You press a button on your mobile and suddenly it goes from having a bluish gradient to gray tones, you can press it again and it will becomes blue again. Oddly enough, it's something really possible to do, or so Vivo says. The Asian manufacturer has published a new video demonstrating this peculiar feature for its future smartphones that can change color with the press of a button .
Last January with the CES from OnePlus they surprised us with the OnePlus Concept One , which among more other things allowed to "cover" the rear camera lenses by darkening the glass. It may seems that this same technology is what Vivo has been decided to use for its color change on the back of the mobile.
The brand has published a video in Wiebo showing how the phone changes color thanks to the electrochromic glass. In the case of Vivo, they move between an intense blue gradient and a gray with blue tones as well. It is best seen in the video:

The "magic" behind electrchromic glass
The truth is that electrochromic glass is not a new technology . Maybe on mobile, but not many in other industries. For this year concept has been used to alter the tint of glass in airplanes, hotels or luxury cars. This technology permits the material to change color thanks to the change in voltage applied to it.
Practically in all the moment it is changed from a transparent glass to a tinted and darkened one, as in the OnePlus mobile. Vivo however seems to have gone a step further this time by playing with a blue and its discoloration to become silver. In any case, it seems that at the moment the technology is limited to "two colors" and does not allow jumping to a wider variety of colors.
We will see if in the coming months Vivo's high-end phones integrate this new technology. They assure in the video that they have also tried to take care of the efficiency of the technology to avoid that the battery consumption is high when activating, deactivating or using this color change. A smartphone customization that is undoubtedly unique.
