Galaxy Fit2: Samsung's new fitness tracker is an endurance athlete

Once cheap, once expensive: With the Galaxy Fit2 and the Galaxy Watch3 Titan, the South Koreans are introducing two new wearables that are not only aimed at athletes.

Since the beginning of the corona pandemic, more and more people have used a walk in the open air or a run in the forest to compensate for work from their own four walls. Satisfying the associated demand for more and more fitness trackers is what Samsung has done with the Galaxy Fit2.

According to the South Koreans, the fitness tracker is aimed particularly at “active users” who “want to record their sporting activities”. Sports activities are automatically recognized as soon as you have been active for more than 10 minutes. Cycling or running are two of the six typical sports that the Galaxy Fit2 can automatically detect.

With a weight of only 24 grams, the tracker should hardly be noticeable after putting it on. The endurance of the Galaxy Fit2 is all the more impressive. According to Samsung, the tracker can be used for up to 21 days on one charge. If you activate the continuous pulse measurement, an impressive 14 days are still possible.

Thanks to the long running time, the tracker can also be worn overnight. The Galaxy Fit2 offers an automatic sleep recording that recognizes sleep habits and helps to optimize them if necessary. The Galaxy Fit2 is IP68 certified and can therefore also be used while swimming.

A 1.1-inch display, in combination with the integrated touch button, should allow easy operation. The AMOLED screen shows, among other things, training time, calories, pulse and distance covered. You can also reply to messages, SMS or emails that have been received on a smartphone connected via Bluetooth.

Galaxy Watch3 Titan: New Smartwatch in an elegant case

At the same time as the new fitness tracker, Samsung also presented a new version of the well-known Galaxy Watch3 . With the noble titanium case in 45 mm format and a high-quality stainless steel bracelet, the smartwatch is the new premium version of the Watch3 models.

The titanium version still gives the well-heeled wearer the opportunity to answer messages or incoming calls from the paired smartphone on the Watch3. Of course, the sporting activities can still be documented. The battery life is Samsung with up to 56 hours.

Samsung's new Galaxy Fit2 will be available in black and red from October 2, 2020 in Germany for around 48 euros. Samsung charges 633 euros for the new Galaxy Watch3 Titan. The smartwatch will be available from September 18, 2020.
